G.W. Bill Elliott, Jr once noted;
It's Sunday morning... Do you know where Jesus is? He's just a prayer away... Stop and 'see'.
Week:
1
Foundations of Faith
An introduction to the gospel and identity in Christ. This week grounds participants in the core story of the Christian life, clarifying who God is, what Christ has done, and how that shapes our identity. The study of this week emphasizes the beginnings of trust—how belief becomes the soil for spiritual growth and practical discipleship. Participants will leave with simple, tangible ways to remember and live out these foundational truths.
Objectives
Begin simple spiritual habits (short prayer, Scripture reading).
Practice honest openness before God.
Grasp basic gospel truths and personal identity in Christ.
Reflections
What one small spiritual habit will I start this week?
Where do I hide from God or others, and why?
How does being “in Christ” change how I see myself?
NowTo the HowTo
Accountability/Tracking
Check off daily habit: read Scripture + 5 minute prayer; record one insight in a shared group doc.
Community Action
Pair up and exchange one short testimony; pray for one another’s next step.
Creative Project
Create a one page “Identity Card” (name, gospel truth, favorite verse) to keep in your wallet or phone.
Leader Prompt
Invite one volunteer to model a 60 second testimony and coach the group on simple, invitational language.
Personal Practice
Spend five minutes each morning this week writing one sentence that begins “Because I am in Christ, I…” and read it aloud once a day.

God Could Care Less...
...but, He doesn't. Sometimes your life may seem and feel like He cares very little for you; does not seem to be aware (or care) of the turmoil you face, the anguish you experience, or even the fear that hides deep in your soul... you know, that fear that makes you do things you regret or hate about yourself. He does care though, never misunderstand that. You may not feel it, sense it or realize it, but He does. To get you to a place where you really can internalize this fact, 1 Peter 5:6-7 ...
Everyone Gets God; NOT
Now , not that everyone ' gets ' Him, as-in understands; it's a ' gets ' Him, as-in accepts. Both are actually very true statements, however hard it may be to actually prove either. But, the core point is that we consider how odd it is that God has made Himself wholly available to everyone... well... sort of everyone. OK, not everyone... actually a 'select few', or more in keeping with scripture, 'those that select/choose/accept' Him. See, Romans 10:13 states; " For whosoever shall call upon...
Eternal Reality
Destruction, calamity, brokenness, failure, mourning... these 'bad things' actually have great qualities for our lives. No, I am not declaring that we should seek them out, strive to obtain them, ensure we experience at least one of these each week. But, when you do review the last 3+ months of your life, you'll find these scattered throughout more than you may initially think, or like! Today's devotional is about 'going it alone' through these times, which is so very hard... and not how the...
A Man of Inaction
Reading back through history, we'd be hard pressed to find any commentary or reference to 'when times were faster'. Often, we stop and recognize just how fast-paced life is now, compared to yesterday... we bustle, we hustle, we scurry, we flurry. We rarely have any time in our past that was 'a faster paced life'... society has advanced into an efficient, and well tuned lifestyle. In fact, the infamous Psalms 46:10 passage might read better to start with, "Log-off, and know that I am God..."!...
Be Thou Vulnerable
"Capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt, as by a weapon". I know... odd starting a devotional with a dictionary description, but that is one of the core descriptions for 'Vulnerable'... not a word I liked very much in my earlier years. As I have grown, I become more and more aware just how bound I was (still am in some places) with the fear of being vulnerable. So much so, I can hide even from myself! As you may recall, I've been saved since February of '78, which is quite some...
Tooty Fruity
The Bible tells me that I should not get weary from doing well, that I should not fret over seeing immediate results, the fruits of my labor, or even just the difference I may be making in this world. Our devotional today is an encouragement about this, and reminder that He does know our labors, He does see our dedication and commitment (not to mention our yearn to follow His will), and He does have a time for each of us. Many times, it feels like 'I am alone' on the journey with the Lord,...
