If during your prioritizing efforts you overlook habits and vices, you missed the whole concept of prioritizing. Go all-in and see.
Prophet, Priest, King
This 30‑day Christian devotional explores the threefold office of Jesus Christ—Prophet, Priest, and King—using KJV Scripture, daily reflections, practical actions, and prayer prompts. Designed for individuals or small groups, this guide helps believers grow in understanding and daily discipleship
Introduction
Jesus Christ holds three offices that theologians have recognized since at least Eusebius of Caesarea in the fourth century: Prophet, Priest, and King (munus triplex). He is the Prophet who reveals God's truth, the Priest who brings us into God's presence, and the King who governs all things with justice and mercy.
This 30-day plan walks you through each office one week at a time, then spends a fourth week weaving them together. Every daily entry gives you a KJV Scripture anchor, a brief reflection, one to three practical actions, and a prayer prompt. Small-group questions are included for anyone working through the plan with others.
You don't need seminary training or a thick commentary to benefit — just a Bible, a willingness to listen, and about ten minutes a day. If you fall behind, pick up where you left off; grace built this plan, and grace will carry you through it.
NowTo the HowTo
-
Read the day's Scripture aloud.
-
Consider the reflection content.
-
Choose and 'do' at least one action.
-
Pray the prompt in your own words.
-
If you're in a group, save the discussion question for your weekly meeting.

Day
1
The Prophet Promised
Deuteronomy 18:15 (KJV)
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.
Prayer
Lord, tune my ears to hear Your voice above every other.
HowTo
Read Deuteronomy 18:15–19 aloud and underline the word "hearken."
Ask yourself: whose voice did I follow most today?
Write down one area where God's Word needs the final say.
Reflection
Long before Bethlehem, God promised a Prophet who would speak with final authority — not just information, but transformation. Jesus is that Prophet.
Group Question
What voices compete most loudly with God's Word in your daily life?
Day
2
The Word Made Flesh
John 1:14 (KJV)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Prayer
Father, help me receive Your Word not as abstract doctrine but as a living Person.
HowTo
Read John 1:1–18 slowly, noting every title given to Jesus.
Identify one truth you've kept at arm's length and invite it closer today.
Reflection
God did not shout from a distance — He moved into the neighborhood. The Prophet became a Person you could touch, hear, and follow.
Group Question
How does knowing the Word is a Person — not just a book — change the way you read Scripture?
Day
3
Teaching with Authority
Matthew 7:28–29 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Prayer
Jesus, let Your authoritative Word reshape one stubborn area of my life today.
HowTo
Reread the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7) and circle one command that challenges you.
Act on that command before sundown today.
Reflection
The crowds noticed the difference immediately. Jesus didn't cite other rabbis for credibility — His authority was inherent, not borrowed.
Group Question
Where do you most resist Christ's authority in your everyday choices?
Day
4
The Spirit of Truth
John 16:13 (KJV)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, guide me into truth I've been missing or avoiding.
HowTo
Set a five-minute timer and sit in silence, asking the Spirit to bring one Scripture to mind.
Write down whatever comes and look it up in your Bible.
Reflection
The prophetic work of Christ continues through the Holy Spirit. He still speaks — guiding, correcting, illuminating — to every willing listener.
Group Question
How do you distinguish the Spirit's guidance from your own preferences?
Day
5
A Lamp unto My Feet
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Prayer
Lord, I don't need a floodlight — just enough of Your Word to take the next step.
HowTo
Choose one decision you're facing and search Scripture for relevant guidance.
Take the next faithful step, even if the full path isn't visible.
Journal what you see by lamplight today.
Reflection
A lamp doesn't illuminate the whole highway — it shows the next step. God's Word often works the same way: enough light for today's obedience.
Group Question
When has God's Word given you just enough light for one step — and that step proved to be exactly right?
Day
6
The Anointed Proclamation
Luke 4:18 (KJV)
Context note: Read Luke 4:18–21 for the full synagogue scene where Jesus claims Isaiah's prophecy as His own mission.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
Prayer
Lord, give me eyes to see where Your proclamation of freedom needs hands and feet.
HowTo
Identify one "captive" situation in your community — loneliness, addiction, poverty..
Take one concrete step toward that need today: a phone call, a meal, a prayer.
Reflection
Jesus announced His prophetic mission from Isaiah's scroll — and then closed the book and said, "This day is this scripture fulfilled." The Prophet doesn't just predict; He acts.
Group Question
What does "preaching deliverance" look like in practical, everyday terms?
Day
7
Hearing and Doing
James 1:22 (KJV)
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Prayer
Father, close the gap between what I know and what I do.
HowTo
Review Days 1–6 and identify one action you planned but didn't complete.
Do it today — no exceptions, no rescheduling.
Tell one person what you learned this week.
Reflection
A week of listening to the Prophet means nothing if it stays between our ears. James warns that hearing without doing is self-deception — the most dangerous kind.
Group Question
Which daily entry this week challenged you most — and did you act on it?
