Call me silly, a romantic, or maybe just plain loopy, but I thoroughly enjoy walking along hand-in-hand, don't you? First, the touch is an amazing feeling, then the feeling of a deeper connection is there, and then there's the sense of security and companionship combined, which all culminate into a wonderful completeness. Our devotional today helps us reflect on this regarding our relationship with the Lord.
Just as we don't walk hand-in-hand with just anyone, so it is with the Lord; we are chosen for His fellowship (John 14:6). His closeness to us gives us that 'touch of His Spirit' in our loves, then His deeper connection with us (He is closer than a brother), and then there is His assuring security and companionship all combined through His gentle leading of us... providing such a wonderful completeness that is undeniable.
Now, with that closeness and Him holding your hand, you can face all things that come your way. Afterall, He is leading and guiding your life; through glorious pastures, lush gardens, and awesome scenery, as well as tragedy, turmoil, and distress... but He IS there hand-in-hand with you! Therewith, we are to remain calm, trusting, and watchful - Colossians 4:2 admonishes; "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving." Don't panic and try to break away; trust, wait, and watch.
I'm also reminded, as I noted earlier, that not just anyone can walk along hand-in-hand with the Lord. Sure, He wants all people to accept this leading of His, but John 14:6 reads; "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
It is a special calling.
Listen to His calling IN you today, spiritually reach out to take His outstretched hand; savor His touch in your life, then bask in His deeper connection, then trust that His securing presence and companionship will combine in your life and produce an amazing sense of completeness... such a thorough wholesomeness.
