Put A Load On

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

I know, the actual phrase these days is, 'Take a Load Off', but even Jesus noted if/when you unburden your sin, guilt, and shame but do not 'seal your heart', you are actually facing a high probability that those burdens, sins, even 'demons' will return... but, with MORE burdens, sins, demons (see my Demons & Exorcism story in the Writings part of this site).

Today's devotional helps us in our faith-walk with 'taking that load off', but sealing our hearts with His grace and mercy by His Spirit. Psalms 68:19 declares; "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.", which is to say that by asking for and accepting forgiveness, He unburdens our hearts of the anguish weighing on us, but replaces it with the 'benefits of salvation'... His indwelling Spirit. THAT seals our hearts unto the 'day of redemption'.

Mind you, there IS an obligation on your part, there is one teenie-weenie requirement to obtain this indwelling and 'sealing' Spirit... asking for forgiveness and demonstrate repentance. Over in 1 John 1:7-9, it states; "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Scary, I know... trusting the unseen... following God... forsaking the life 'you know now', but again... as noted at the beginning, you are actually 'putting His load' on, and sealing yourself from those tormenting burdens, sins, and guilt. 1 John 4:1 reminds us; "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.", so cast off that fear, and Put a Load On from Christ our Lord!

Not sure how you grew up, but me... I'll bet I was well into my teens before 'the future' really crossed my mind. Sure, I worried about attending an upcoming concert, the weekend camping trip, maybe e

Appreciating Anguish

I once knew a man who did not pray for patience... hated the thought/idea of it... strictly because of God's promise that came along with patience; '...that the trying of your faith worketh patience'.
