Priorities and Alignment

Ordering life, priorities, aligning with God’s rhythm. This week helps participants evaluate and reorder commitments so life reflects gospel priorities. It offers practical frameworks for decision-making, time use, and aligning daily routines with spiritual values. The focus is on coherence—making choices that sustain spiritual health and mission over time.

Objectives

Practice practical ordering of daily life.

Align time and energy with God’s purposes.

Reassess priorities and simplify life.

Reflections

How will I measure alignment with God’s purposes?

What is one priority I will protect this week?

What drains my time and energy?

NowTo the HowTo

Accountability/Tracking

Use a weekly planner template to block time for top priorities and submit a screenshot to your partner.

Community Action

Host a “priority swap” where members share one thing they’ll say no to and one thing they’ll protect.

Creative Project

Build a “Priority Map” poster with top three spiritual priorities and daily actions for each.

Leader Prompt

Lead a short exercise to help participants identify one nonnegotiable spiritual priority.

Personal Practice

Do a one day time inventory and circle one activity to reduce; replace it with a spiritual priority.

Devotionals

His Path of Distraction

Sure, we're usually advised to pay attention, focus, and not be distracted when we're on a path, whether we are driving, cycling, or jogging. Practically, we do need to focus and minimize distractions, sure. Today's devotional, however, is going to encourage you to actually be distracted by the Lord's path, the Lord's plan of your life... let that get/keep your attention, let that be where your prime energy and interests go. "Same thing, just a different spin", you might say. No... Psalms 16:8...

Put A Load On

I know, the actual phrase these days is, 'Take a Load Off', but even Jesus noted if/when you unburden your sin, guilt, and shame but do not 'seal your heart', you are actually facing a high probability that those burdens, sins, even 'demons' will return... but, with MORE burdens, sins, demons (see my Demons & Exorcism story in the Writings part of this site). Today's devotional helps us in our faith-walk with 'taking that load off', but sealing our hearts with His grace and mercy by His...

When Good Enough Ain't

I dislike being the recipient of shoddy work, or buying a tool or a product for the second time because the first one failed, or even worse... having to rely on someone whose work-ethic is questionable. But, just how do we get motivated to try harder, or do better, or 'go the extra mile' for a job that just doesn't motivate, appreciate, and certainly does not reciprocate? Easy... change your 'who you are doing it for' focus. See, Colossians 3:23-24 tells us; " And whatsoever ye do, do it...

Wandering You

Walking or traveling along a straight line or path is the shortest and most efficient means to travel from Point A to Point B. That's all well and good as long as you are not inside a house or building (trying to get from the kitchen to the bathroom, say), or not in Manhattan (trying to get uptown from the Statue of Liberty). Buildings and objects, natural obstacles, and simple old detours can often make your 'straight and efficient' trip quite a bit longer, quite a bit more frustrating, and...

None of Your Busyness

One of the very easiest ways to answer Jesus' invitation to come to Him, is; stop letting things keep you from Him! Easier said than done, I know SO well, but if you take a moment to consider that our busyness really pulls us from His invitation to fellowship with Him, so setting aside the busyness instantly frees us for time with Him. Our devotional today does two things; reminds us that He IS constantly calling on us, and the value we glean from His presence is time-worthy of it. Firstly;...

Time Isn't Money

There are a number of things I dislike passionately, and one of them more than the others; getting the waning a fleeting moments of someone's time for whom I'd waited and waited to spend quality time. Maybe I need or want that person too much, or maybe I value their presence so much that I try to get every ounce of value from our time together. Regardless, when the 'awaited for' time finally arrives, but is cut too short or filled with interruptions and/or distractions... well, my heart...
