Beholder's Beauty

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

I've often thought about and wondered if we see things the same as each other. Sure, we can both 'see' things like; the Grand Canyon, a gorgeous sunset, a bed of roses, and so on. But, do we both 'see' the same vibrant colors, or the majesty in the cloud formations, and even appreciating the depth of color transitions during a sunrise or sunset. We never know if others can 'see what we see', LIKE we see it.

But, that is what our devotional today encourages; seeing things AND taking time to appreciate or acknowledge them in our lives; Beholding His Beauty. No, this is not a lesson in appreciating the tangible moments in our lives (you know me better than that, right?). Rather, this is a devotional about recognizing the beauty in His 'holiness'. After-all, the outer beauty merely reflects the existence of His holy being, and His grace upon us. It's not new either... it's been there all the time... In fact, the Seraphim's were singing out in Isaiah 6:3, which reads; "And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory."

But, 'it will be there tomorrow' we figure as we bustle along through our day. We miss SO much of our Lord in our haste, our plans, our schedule. We should not only 'stop and smell the roses', but maybe take time to lay in that bed of those roses and wallow all around, letting that fragrance spread all over us, and deep into our lungs!

Actually, Psalms 29:2 helps explain how important that is, when it states; "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." God looks on us favorably when we take time to be awed by nature's beauty because it opens our hearts to His holy presence, and acknowledging His handy-work. His ability to do that outer handy-work is the very same for our internal lives, too. Ultimately, we will declare His wonderful presence (being) to our world around us. 'We' end up being 'that beautiful rose', or that 'glorious sunrise' that others can see IN us (His work in us).

The whole earth (inside and out) radiates the beauty if His Glory! Stop and 'see'.
